Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add the melted butter and stir to combine.
- Mix in the granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well blended.
- Sprinkle in the baking soda and salt, then gradually add the flour, mixing gently until just incorporated.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve at room temperature or warmed.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for maximum flavor and moisture.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread moist.
- Add chocolate chips last to prevent over-thickening the batter.
- Baking at the correct temperature ensures a moist interior with a nice crust.
