  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • Optional: cooked rice or pasta for serving

Instructions

  1. Season chicken strips with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through, 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, lower heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, sauté chopped onion until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Pour in heavy cream, stirring constantly. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce slightly thickens. Season with additional salt and cayenne pepper.
  4. Return chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat with sauce. Cook for another 3-5 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve hot over rice or pasta for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic and onions for optimal flavor.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper to preferred spice level.
  • Choose high-quality heavy cream for a rich, smooth sauce.
  • Add a splash of lemon juice or curry powder for extra depth.
  • Experiment with herbs like thyme or basil for personalized taste.
