Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
- Optional: cooked rice or pasta for serving
Instructions
- Season chicken strips with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through, 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, lower heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, sauté chopped onion until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Pour in heavy cream, stirring constantly. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce slightly thickens. Season with additional salt and cayenne pepper.
- Return chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat with sauce. Cook for another 3-5 minutes to meld flavors.
- Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve hot over rice or pasta for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic and onions for optimal flavor.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to preferred spice level.
- Choose high-quality heavy cream for a rich, smooth sauce.
- Add a splash of lemon juice or curry powder for extra depth.
- Experiment with herbs like thyme or basil for personalized taste.
