  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup currant jam
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg; knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread ricotta cheese evenly, then dollop currant jam on top.
  5. Roll up the dough tightly, then cut into 12 equal slices.
  6. Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish, let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  8. Mix powdered sugar with a little water to create glaze, drizzle over hot buns.
