- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce (optional for extra flavor)
- 1/4 cup sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup cornstarch or all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, and ginger to make the sauce. Set aside.
- Place chicken pieces in a bowl, coat with beaten eggs, then dredge in cornstarch or flour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- In a large skillet, toss fried chicken with the sesame sauce until evenly coated and heated through.
- Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped scallions before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double coat the chicken in cornstarch before frying.
- Adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the sauce to taste by adding more honey or soy.
