- 3-4 pounds beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Fresh herbs for garnish (rosemary or thyme)
Instructions
- Season the brisket generously with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, then transfer to the slow cooker.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until fragrant. Add beef broth, red wine, and Worcestershire sauce; deglaze the pan.
- Pour the mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker.
- Set to low and cook for 8-10 hours until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the brisket, let rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve garnished with fresh herbs.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, marinate the brisket overnight with some of the seasonings.
- You can also add vegetables like carrots or potatoes during the last few hours of cooking for a complete meal.
