Ingredients
Scale
- One package of pre-made croissants (or homemade if preferred)
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bars
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional toppings: powdered sugar, berries, or whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Arrange the croissants in the dish, slightly overlapping for a flaky base.
- Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Pour over chocolate chips in a bowl and stir until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whisk together eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until well combined.
- Pour the chocolate mixture evenly over the croissants. Then, slowly pour the egg mixture over everything, ensuring the croissants are soaked.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly. Top with powdered sugar, berries, or whipped cream as desired before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate for a richer flavor.
- Make ahead: assemble the dish the night before and bake in the morning for a quick breakfast.
- Try adding chopped nuts or fresh berries before baking for added texture and flavor.
