Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Set up three shallow dishes: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in the third.
- Pat the chicken breasts dry. Dip each into the flour, then into the eggs, and finally coat evenly with the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere crumbs.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from oven, spoon marinara sauce over each piece, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve hot with pasta, salad, or crusty bread.
Notes
- Use high-quality marinara sauce for richer flavor.
- Spray breadcrumbs lightly with cooking spray before baking for extra crispiness.
- Allow the chicken to rest a few minutes after baking to keep it juicy.
