Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work perfectly)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray or a brush of olive oil
Instructions
- Wash and peel the apples, then cut into evenly sized fries about 1/2 inch thick. Remove the core and seeds.
- Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with vanilla, and the third with panko breadcrumbs combined with cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
- Dip each apple fry into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat evenly with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Preheat your Ninja Air Fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the coated apple fries with cooking spray or brush with olive oil.
- Arrange the apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Adjust cooking time as needed for your air fryer model.
Notes
- Use firm apples to prevent them from turning mushy during frying.
- Ensure even coating by pressing the breadcrumb mixture gently onto each fry.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar or serve with caramel sauce for added flavor.
- Try different coatings like crushed nuts or coconut flakes for variety.
