Ingredients
Scale
- 1 head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully peel cabbage leaves and blanch them for 2-3 minutes until soft. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
- In a baking dish, spread crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down.
- Drizzle with olive oil and cover with foil.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the filling is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- For added flavor, include a splash of Worcestershire sauce or chopped herbs in the filling.
