A quick and delicious Chinese beef and broccoli stir-fry made with tender beef slices and fresh broccoli cooked in a savory sauce.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add remaining 1 tbsp oil to the wok. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in broccoli and cook for 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  5. Return beef to the wok. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and hoisin sauce; stir to coat evenly.
  6. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the wok to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until sauce has thickened.
  7. Finish with sesame oil, toss to combine, and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced beef for quick cooking and tender texture.
  • You can add sliced bell peppers or carrots for extra vegetables.
