A rich and buttery shortbread crust topped with sweet cinnamon-spiced apple filling and a crunchy crumble topping, baked until golden.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and powdered sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the dish to form crust.
  3. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly over the crust.
  4. In a small bowl, mix oats and chopped pecans. Sprinkle over the apples as a topping.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

  • You can substitute pecans with chopped walnuts or leave nuts out for nut-free version.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
