  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (64g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter. Add sugar and stir until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
