Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract, mix well.
  4. Sift in flour and salt, then combine to form dough.
  5. Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out one dough portion on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
  7. Cut out cookies using a round or fluted cutter, then cut out a small shape in the center of half of them for the lattice top.
  8. Place cookies on prepared baking sheet. Spread Nutella on the whole cookies, then top with lattice-cut cookies.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on wire racks.
