Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants, sliced into pieces
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Scatter the croissant pieces and chocolate evenly in a greased baking dish. Pour the custard mixture over the croissants, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
- Allow the mixture to rest for 10-15 minutes so the croissants absorb the custard thoroughly.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and set.
- Remove from oven, cool briefly, then dust with powdered sugar and top with berries or whipped cream if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use day-old croissants for better absorption and flavor.
- You can substitute dark or white chocolate for the semi-sweet chips.
- This casserole can be prepared in advance and refrigerated overnight before baking.
