Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 cup cornstarch or potato starch
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil recommended)
Bang Bang Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2-3 tablespoons sriracha or hot chili sauce (adjust for spice level)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Optional: chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Start by cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powders for added flavor.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs. In another bowl, combine the cornstarch and flour. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken pieces. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until smooth. Adjust spice levels by adding more sriracha if you prefer extra heat.
- Once the chicken is crispy and cooked through, toss the fried pieces in the spicy bang bang sauce. Serve immediately garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for a burst of flavor.
Notes
- Use a neutral oil like vegetable or peanut oil for frying.
- Maintain the oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for optimal crispiness.
- For an oven-baked version, coat chicken on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
