- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and garlic; cook until fragrant.
- Transfer meat mixture to the crockpot. Add crushed tomatoes, broth, and Italian seasoning. Stir well.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- In the last 30 minutes, add broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender.
- Stir in ricotta cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese. Serve hot, topped with remaining mozzarella and fresh herbs.
Notes
- Use fresh basil for the best flavor.
- Adjust thickness by adding more broth or simmering uncovered.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute with plant-based sausage or extra vegetables.
