A simple yet flavorful stovetop chicken dish cooked in a savory gravy, perfect for a quick and hearty meal.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until golden brown on both sides, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent.
  4. Sprinkle flour over onions and garlic, stirring well to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Gradually pour in chicken broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes until cooked through and gravy thickens.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine during the gravy-making process.
  • Can be served over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles for a complete meal.
