- 1 lb (450 g) ground turkey
- 12 oz (340 g) penne or rotini pasta
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent.
- Add ground turkey, season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil, and cook until browned and cooked through.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Add crushed tomatoes to the skillet with ground turkey, simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mix cooked pasta into the turkey sauce and transfer to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven, let rest for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve.
